On June 7, 2023, about 0952 eastern daylight time, a fire was reported at the Tall Timbers Marina in Tall Timbers, Maryland. Local and state agencies responded to extinguish the fire, which destroyed at least 9 recreational vessels. A containment boom was deployed. The accident was classified by the US Coast Guard as a major marine casualty.
Our initial investigation did not identify significant transportation safety issues. We determined that additional investigation and use of resources are not warranted at this time. We have produced an investigation close-out memorandum, which can be found in our docket.
