According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 5,579 motorcyclists died in traffic crashes in 2020—an 11 percent increase from 2019—accounting for 14 percent of all fatalities that year.
In our webinar, we will shine a light on the action needed to implement proven, effective countermeasures that will advance safety for motorcyclists. We will look at motorcycle safety through the lens of Protecting Vulnerable Road Users through a Safe System Approach, one of the NTSB’s most wanted transportation safety improvements. We will discuss NTSB crash investigations and safety recommendations, and experts will discuss the vehicle design and technology for both motorcycles and passenger vehicles, infrastructure needs, driver training, required protective gear, and safe driving and riding practices. Our goal will be to articulate the improvement of motorcycle safety through a holistic, Safe System Approach.
