Purpose: The Safety Recommendations Database is used to store information related to each of the recommendations issued by the Safety Board. The Board uses the information for historical purposes during investigation and report writing for new accidents of a similar nature. The information is public information and is given to federal, State and local governments, media personnel, lawyers, consultants, and private individuals.

Agency Program: Public Law 93-633 requires the National Transportation Safety Board to investigate and determine the probable cause of all civil aviation accidents in the United States and to recommend actions that would keep similar accidents and incidents from happening in the future.
