NTSB Sends Team to Investigate Accident in San Francisco Bay

The National Transportation Safety Board is sending a Go Team to San Francisco today to investigate an accident that damaged a container ship and resulted in the spill of tens of thousands of gallons of oil into the bay.

The NTSB will investigate the circumstances surrounding the November 7 accident, in which the MV Cosco Busan struck a support tower on the San Francisco Bay Bridge in heavy fog.

Tom Roth-Roffy will serve as Investigator-in-Charge for the four-member team. NTSB Member Debbie Hersman will accompany the team and serve as spokesperson for the on- scene investigation. Peter Knudson is the NTSB press officer accompanying the team.
